Global Health Partnerships (formerly THET) is honoured to host the 2025 UK-Myanmar Health Partners Sharing & Learning event on 18 January. This annual event is a vital platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and supporting capacity-building in the face of ongoing health system challenges in Myanmar following the military coup of 2021.

We are delighted to open the first hour of the event to the public, which will feature a keynote address from Catherine West MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Indo-Pacific Region, and Dr Cynthia Maung, Founder of the Mao Tao Clinic, which provides essential healthcare over the border in Thailand.

The event will underscore the resilience and dedication of health professionals in Myanmar, and the Health Partnerships that are supporting healthcare workers in the country, that have persevered despite enormous adversity and systematic persecution. Since the coup, over 930 health workers in Myanmar have been arrested, 1509 attacks and threats against health workers and infrastructure have occurred, and 131 health workers have been killed. In conflict-affected regions, Ethnic Health Organisations (EHOs) remain indispensable providers of essential healthcare services.

The Myanmar Health Partnership Community meets as a group of self-directing individuals and institutions that come together to coordinate and support each other in ways which amplify our impact. Since February 2021, the community has provided a platform for networking and coordination among international and local partners.

Please join us from 09:00 – 10:00 GMT on Saturday 18 January as we reaffirm our commitment to partnership and solidarity with health workers in Myanmar during these testing times.
