International Partnerships Lead, Commonwealth Pharmacists Association
Sarah Cavanagh is International Partnerships Lead for the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association and an Honorary Advisor for THET. Soon after qualifying, she worked in a Kolkata street clinic as a volunteer for 3 months. This inspired a life’s interest in and passion for global health. Sarah has worked in Ghana with Voluntary Services Overseas and Mozambique where she led the successful Ipswich Hospital – Beira THET partnership. She is currently supporting the UK DHSC (Fleming Fund) with the Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship programme. These partnerships include multidisciplinary teams of health workers from 12 UK NHS hospitals and their counterparts in 4 African nations.
Sarah works in the NHS as a pharmacist and is Deputy Director for Medicines Use and Safety with the Specialist Pharmacy Service. She cares deeply about antimicrobial stewardship, patient safety and using behavior change to improve health at home and abroad.
